In preparation for the upcoming kitten season, The Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter Society (BASS) will be holding a

Shower Brunch for Momma Cat.

Ruppert’s Restaurant in Riverdale, NJ

Sunday, March 11 from 11 AM until 2 PM.

The cost is $30 for adults, $10 for children and children under 5 free. The brunch menu includes a hot breakfast station, carving station, omelet station, assorted hot lunch/dinner items, cold salads including peel-n-eat shrimp, fresh fruit, assorted breakfast breads, assorted desserts, champagne, Mimosas, juice, soda, coffee and tea. .   A mini tricky tray and 50/50 raffle will be held and several adoptable cats will be present.  Everyone is invited to attend. Please RSVP at www.bassshelterpets.org or call 973-838-2220. Check out the gift registry online too. Gift suggestions include everything from food and nursing bottles to spay and neuters for Mom, Dad and the entire litter.  April Showers Bring May Flowers and Kittens

 Spring marks the beginning of kitten season when people start seeing cute little stray kittens in their gardens and around dumpsters behind stores and restaurants. It’s a time when people who did not get their female cats spayed find a little mewing surprise under the bed or in the closet. If these kittens are born in Bloomingdale, Butler, North Caldwell, Pompton Lakes, Ringwood, Riverdale or Wanaque they will probably end up at BASS. “The influx of kittens throughout spring and summer puts an increased burden on theshelter financially and also through the emotional and physical strain of the employeesand volunteers who have to care for the kittens until they find their forever homes andare adopted.” says Ellen Ribitzki, President. Having a leisurely and delicious brunch is a great way of supporting the shelter through this busy time

BASS sponsors “Beat the heat” in February since this is the inception of kitten season. Low cost spay/neuter can be scheduled through BASS and People for Animals.  Fees, including rabies and distemper are $75 friendly cat, $55 feral (wild) cat including ear tipping, $110-$140 per dog.

For Valentine’s Day, BASS is promoting a “two fur one” sale for the month of February to keep all our couples together.

North Shore Animal League of American and BASS will sponsor ADOPT A MUTT-I-GREE on Saturday, February 11 at the Preakness Shopping Center, 1220 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne from 11 am to 4 pm.  Adoptable pets will be visiting in the North Shore Van.

As a member of the League’s Executive Board, Mayor Dunleavy will help lead the Association of New Jersey’s 566 municipal governments. Mayor Dunleavy will represent the interests and needs of New Jersey’s local elected officials to county, state and federal governments.

The New Jersey State League of Municipalities is a voluntary association created to assist communities do a better job of self-governing through pooling information and resources. All 566 mayors and 13,000 elected and appointed officials of member municipalities are entitled to all the services and privileges of the League.

The training sessions will focus on developing the individual technical ability of each player with emphasis on ball familiarity, dribbling, individual moves, turns, passing, control and shooting.

Each week the players will also compete in scrimmage games at the end of each session where they will be provided with an opportunity to put into practice the skills they have worked on in their training sessions.
